After-school Bilingual Nanny in Paris 7ème - September 2023
An American family is looking for a French-speaking nanny with strong English for their 9yo boy and 5yo girl. The children attend a bilingual school and the primary focus of the position is to care for the children’s safety, establish healthy routines and increase the children’s exposure in French and help them speak it more comfortably.
The nanny will be responsible for picking up the children from school, taking them to their after-school activities, supervising homework, preparing dinner and bathtime. The family would like someone that also can teach the children French by leading and playing age-appropriate games/activities, as well as speaking to the children in French. The nanny should engage the children in healthy habits like cleaning up after themselves, hygiene (hand washing), and good manners.
The family wants someone they can rely on and someone who can build a strong rapport with their children and help with the daily routines and structures of the family. They value independence, following established routines, good manners and acting with kindness and respect. It is essential that the nanny holds the same values and is willing to be invested in the children’s growth alongside the parents.
The nanny will keep the children's rooms organised at the end of the day and the common areas of the house tidy. They will also assist with the children’s laundry (folding and putting away).
The scheduled hours will be Mon, Tue, Thu & Fri 16h - 19h and Wed 12h - 19h (TBC depending on extra-curricular activities). If the nanny is looking for more hours, the family is also looking for a weekly carer for Saturday evenings 18h30 - 23h30, though this is negotiable. During school holidays, the nanny will work Mon to Fri from 9h - 18h. Ideally, the nanny will join the family on 1-2 vacations per year.
The nanny will be entitled to 5 weeks paid leave per year. These weeks must overlap with the family’s holiday over Christmas and summer.
The candidate:

Is someone nurturing, but disciplined in their routines and expectations around kindness and good manners.

Has worked with children of a similar age

Must have at least 3 years of nannying experience with excellent references

Knowledgeable, and ideally certified, in children’s first aid (CPR, Heimlich, etc)

Experience in early childhood education is a plus
